Feb 9, 2024 | Blog, Goods and Services Tax (GST)

To provide greater convenience to Goods & Services Tax (GST) taxpayers, two new payment methods have been introduced for online GST e-payment, alongside net-banking. These new methods include Credit or Debit Cards and Unified Payments Interface (UPI). The Credit or Debit Cards option covers cards like Visa, RuPay, Mastercard, and Diners, issued by both Nationalized and Private Indian banks.

A recent GSTN Advisory has announced the introduction of payment options via Credit Card (CC) & Debit Card (DC) such as Visa, RuPay, Mastercard, and Diners. This initiative aims to offer more payment avenues to GST taxpayers, with the addition of Cards and Unified Payments Interface (UPI) alongside net-banking. The Cards option encompasses Credit Card (CC) and Debit Card (DC) types, including those issued by Indian banks like Visa, RuPay, Mastercard, and Diners. Payment via DC/CC/UPI is currently facilitated through Kotak Mahindra Bank, regardless of the issuing bank for Credit Card (CC) and Debit Card (DC). Integration with other banks is underway, with availability currently in 10 states and anticipation of expansion to remaining states soon.
